The Texas Energy Appliance Rebate Program has received $23,341,000.00 in federal stimulus funds from the nearly $300 million available nationwide from the U. S. Department of Energy to establish and administer an Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program.

The program encourages consumers to replace old but functional appliances in the categories of:   refrigerators, freezers, room air conditioners, clothes washers, dishwashers, central air conditioners, air-source heat pumps and hot water heaters with new, energy efficient ENERGY STAR or Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) qualified models.  The state hopes to conserve more energy and stimulate the economy.

About the Texas Appliance Rebate Program

Starting April 16, 2010, Texas consumers can replace old, functional appliances and purchase new energy efficient, ENERGY STAR appliances aided by the Texas Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program. The program was borne after Texas received its share of$ 23 million in federal funds as part of $300 million available to be allocated nationwide.

Appliances labeled ENERGY STAR have been labeled so because they meet the stringent guidelines of the Energy Star Program that was established in 1992 by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U. S. Department of Energy designed to save consumers money on their utility bills and cut down on greenhouse gas emissions.

A rebate reservation request form may be requested on April 7, 2010 via a toll free phone number or website.
